Balkan Beat Box's New Meds
Okay, the actual name of BBB's new album is Nu Med, but the pun couldn't be more appropriate, as the group fills a badly needed prescription for multiracial harmony at a time of war and xenophobia.
"BBB's new record," label JDub proclaims, "is a musical vision of what the Mediterranean would sound like if borders were removed...." Yeah, and if the residents then were shaken as if in a snow globe. Horns and violin face off against accordion and Tamir Muskat's samples, and you just gotta play it loud.
